REVIEWS:
“Latin is a language of unity for Roman Catholics. The use of the same Latin language in the celebration of Mass throughout the world represents a special consolation and spiritual joy. In our days, the borders between peoples are increasingly abolished, and all nations aspire to unity. The Second Vatican Council itself decreed that the use of the Latin language must be preserved in the Church and that measures must be taken to enable the faithful to pray the prayers of the Mass together in Latin. When Catholics of our days are able to pray in Latin, they build a bridge to all the previous generations of Catholics who prayed the same prayers in the same language. Therefore, I recommend the book “Rosary Meditations & Mental Prayer”, which, besides its valuable spiritual content, will be also of a concrete help for the faithful to learn and pray the main Catholic prayers in Latin.”

I am very impressed and edified by this book. For the past fifteen years, I have been collecting Rosary meditation books, and this is one of the best I’ve read. This book combines a meditative approach to the Rosary based on Scripture and the doctrines of the Saints, with a focus on the ascetic life that is the foundation and fruit of praying the Rosary. I was particularly gladdened with the copious citations from Cornelius a Lapide’s Great Commentary. I wholeheartedly believe that the best way for the faithful to engage with the Scriptures is through the Rosary, so that the unfathomable depths of divine Revelation may be plumbed under the tutelage of the Mother of God, who is our own Mother and advocate. I believe individuals, families, parishes and communities will benefit immensely from reading and using this book.

It is always refreshing to see another book on the subject of the Holy Rosary, proving once again that the Rosary provides an inexhaustible amount of devotional and spiritual material that can be derived from it. This new book delivers a fresh array of meditations on the Holy Rosary in a very well laid out and easy to read format. While written easy enough for a child to understand with beautiful images, it at the same time offers a wealth of deep meditative exhortations pulled from the vast expanse of writings of the Saints and religious. Another useful feature of the book is its “How to” guide near the end, which also provides all of the prayers of the Holy Rosary in both English and Latin for those desiring to abandon the sometimes mundane use of their spoken language and unite themselves in prayer to the rich history of the Roman Catholic Church, using the sacred language of Latin.
